It is composed of major stupas and monasteries (viharas). Together with the nearby complexes of Lalitgiri and Ratnagiri, it is part of Puspagiri University. The heritage sites are also known collectively as the "Diamond Triangle" of the "Ratnagiri-Udayagiri-Lalitgiri" complex.
